Excellent tip for putting a heavy ruck on the knee instead of hoisting it onto the shoulders or the traditional over the head. I had over 100 pounds in beer and groceries in this ruck the other day and I I could have probably picked it up and put it over my head but on the knee works great and is much less effort and potential to fall over.

You almost described M27 with RWK. But the idea of the M27 is to have a battle rifle while keeping the same cartrige. The next battlefield for US will be the Pacific, and soldiers dont use body armor on jungles, so its ok to keep the 5,56. About foliage and trees, well, the speed of the projectile is enough to keep an almost linear trajectory.

@MarineCorpsSystemsCommand Can we upgrade the M27? What about a reduced rate of fire, adjustable gas block, ambidextrous controls, dimpling the barrel, adopting polymer ammo, mlok handguards, a stronger bipod, a shorter and lighter suppressor, enlarging the trigger guard, angling the magazine well, slim stock, heat mitigation system, lmg upper, hex crossbolt barrel removal feature (like the LMT MARS-L), 14.5 Recon Weapons Kit barrel option, and a reliable x60 rounds High-Capacity stick magazine? The Army's N.G.S.W. is not the way!

  • @nickmail7604

All modern Western military packs are too heavy, have too much molle webbing on them and most of the straps are too long. You try moving through dense forest or jungle and if your excess straps are not taped up they snag and get caught up and the molle loops everywhere do exactly the same only more often. I know this one product has to fit many different environments and differant sized and shaped people but it shouldn't be so difficult, I could design a better pack and I'm no engineer. Also this pack is far too complicated for the average service man

I'm not sure what you find to be difficult. You can have this thing stripped down and put back together in a few minutes once you learn how. Just like everything else in life, you have to learn how it works. You didn't come out of momma knowing how to pee and poop in a toilet, but it's not hard. This isn't a "crawling through the jungle" pack. That's what the assault pack is for. Also, let's see your design...

Get rid of zippers on the new plate carriers. The PASGT vest that replaced the Vietnam era M67 and older vests had Velcro closure from lessons learned in Vietnam where Marines who were hit on or near the zipper had the zipper pulled into their body by the projectile. Surgeons had a very hard time removing the zipper which cost the lives of some Marines. The Gen 3 PC has a zipper on the bottom. I’d rather wear an IMTV or an Interceptor vest than one of the new Gen 3 PCs with a zipper. The Gen 2 PC is actually really great and I think the Gen 3 is a step backwards. Lightweight plates that still stop 7.62x54r FMJ ammo is good. The ESAPI is overkill so replacing that is good. The high cut helmet needs to be paired with ear protection that provides fragmentation protection OR hearing protection should be procured that fits under a full cut helmet. My issued PELTOR Liberator IIIs fit under everything from PASGT to MICH to ECH to the USMC Lightweight Helmet. High cut helmets sacrifice fragmentation protection unnecessarily.

we could have saved alot of money just contracting a new mid length barrel and FF rail system with our M4s. All the proprietary stuff that HK requires for their overgassed rifle increased costs and doesn't do anything better an American made LMT, KAC, GEISSELE, DD etc... could have done.

It is an indisputable fact that a belt-fed LMG is the most casualty-producing weapon in a squad. You can't really lay down an effective base of fire with a 30-round box mag like you can with a 100-round belt. Granted these Marines are gonna have less weight to carry and won't be as easily singled out by snipers, but when they come up against an enemy with a belt-fed MG like a PKM they're going to be wishing they had the SAW back.

The weapon system is fine, it's the B.S. $$$$ remote operated part. Defense contractors and the polictians are pushing this crap on the military saying it will save lives. Service members still have to be in close to operate it, reload it, maintain it. This self driving tech is goverment funded R&D for self driving trucks for the trucking industry. They are just using DOD $$ to pay for this useless hardware, just ask any enlisted what their thoughts are on if it will keep them safe in a combat enviroment, the operator is still close by. Sure once emplaced it is fired remotely, that,s not the point. I love how the officers all suck up to higher on how great a new system is, because you don,t want to upset the apple cart! The senior officers all want those defense jobs or shill for them when they retire.
